Dave Guido was born on July 29, 1952. He is the son of Phyllis and the late Vincent Guido. He had a brother Vinny that passed away thirteen years ago and has a sister Maryann Van Dreason, her as well as her husband mark and two sons have been very supportive of Dave's career. He has been married to the former Donna Fabbio for twenty nine years; they have two children a daughter Lindsay and a son David III. He has also known the great influence of his in-laws Anthony "Bull" and the late Dolores Fabbio. Baseball has always been an enormous part of Dave's life, and due largely to the support of his, wife and kids as well as the rest of his family he was able to strive and demand excellence in his career.

Athletics always had an importance to Dave growing up largely instilled by his father and uncles. He was not only a football and baseball player, but also learned the extensiveness of the outdoors including hunting and fishing, a sport which he continues to this day.

Dave played baseball and football throughout his childhood. He continued the trend as he grew and went through school. He played baseball as well as football at Proctor High School and then played baseball at Notre Dame High School when he transferred schools. He continued on playing baseball at Mohawk Valley Community College, from there he received a baseball scholarship to the University of Central Florida where he continued his schooling. Dave also played for the Rome Indians Semi-Pro team for five years while also playing in the MUNY LEAGUE for seven years.

Dave began his coaching career at UFA in 1975 as Assistant Coach to Jim Lasher for the junior varsity baseball team. He continued to coach football at UFA in 1978 under Varsity coach Tony Sisti, and proceeded to coach Junior Varsity Baseball at Proctor from 1979-1985. Dave also coached basketball at Proctor from 1980-1984 as assistant coach to Ralph Leo. In 1984 the Proctor Basketball team won the 1984 Central Oneida League Championship, giving them the first championship in forty one years. Dave became the Head Varsity Baseball Coach for Proctor High School in 1986. He also coached the Rome Indians Collegiate Baseball Team from 1990-1993, and in 2006 coached the Champions Baseball Academy Team of Cincinnati, Ohio at the Walt Disney Wide World of Sports Baseball Tournament. He led that team to the championship victory.

During his varsity coaching career Dave has had many accomplishments. During his first year in 1986 the team tied for the league championship. with New Hartford. In 1987 they won the Sectional as well as the Regional Title. In 1989 they won tile Section III, Region and District Title and lost in the state championship final four.

In 1993 his team won tile Sectional title, Region and District, they lost in tile state championship final four. In 1995 his team lost in the Section III Final against Cicero North Syracuse in extra innings. In 1999 his team lost in the Section III Final in thirteen innings against Liverpool. In 2000 his team won the Section III Title and lost in the Regional Finals. In 2001 they won the Section III Regional and District Title losing in the state finals.

In 2006 his team lost in the Section III Finals, however Coach Guido was named Mohawk Valley Coach of the Year. In 2007 Coach lead his team to tile Section III, Regional and District titles as well as becoming NYS Champs winning the final game of the state championship. Dave was named NY State Coach of the Year as well as the American Baseball Coaches Association Regional Coach of the Year.

Coach Dave Guido has had a remarkable career with a record thus far of 390 wins 127 losses. Coach Guido has made many contacts throughout the baseball community all over tile country. He continues to stay in contact with these great friends he has made through this game in all areas, including coaches, scouts, and players. He continues to strive for excellence with his current team, and is supported by so many in our community including his wife, children, and family as well as his assistance coaches Fred Orsino, Jim Lasher, and Bryan Stamboly.
