He averaged 30 points per game, but scored more than 40 points in three consecutive Section II basketball games, and twice scored 47 points. He led St. Johnsville to two Tri-Valley League basketball titles and a Section II, Class C-D crossover championship. He was class salutatorian upon his graduation in 1970.

He was hired as both head baseball coach and junior varsity basketball coach at Little Falls High School in 1975, and has built an enduring record. He has compiled an overall mark of 460 wins-159 losses in baseball, helping the Mounties clinch the state Class C-D championship in 1982.

Little Falls' baseball team has dominated the Central Valley League, earning 12 baseball championships in just over 25 years, and finishing second nine times. In addition, Schoffs teams have captured 10 Section III baseball championships, and were runners up seven times.

Schoff was named New York State Class C baseball co-coach of the year in 2000.
