Raised by his grandmother along with his 6 siblings in the projects of Washington Courts aka “Brick City” in Utica David seemed to be well suited for success in various areas. His strong Christian-based drive and enthusiastic spirit served him well throughout his Utica sports career in track & field and football.

He was awarded All-Star status and champion in the old COL conference and Section III, in both the 100m & 200m distances in Track & Field each year of competing. Similarly, he was honored nationally as a top recruit in football with accolades such as Street & Smith and Bally’s All-American honors, which followed him to Ohio State University’s campus as a student/athlete.

The honors continued in his college career, being named to the Big Ten defensive All-Star team twice while leading the OSU secondary as a four-year starter and Captain in 1989. He is credited with 218 career tackles and 12 interceptions, returning two for touchdowns. One of which is still a school, Big Ten, and NCAA record as a 100-yard touchdown return against Purdue in 1986. His stats and athletic talents paved the way for an injury-riddled NFL stint with the Atlanta Falcons.

After his athletic career ended, he leaned on his sense of discipline and strategic thinking to work for several Fortune 100 companies in Executive Management roles at Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, and the Mars candy company.

David currently is the President & CEO, and Board Member of the global wine company C. Mondavi & Family, the parent company to the iconic Charles Krug winery based in St Helena, California.
